ACTION FOR INTEGRATED APPROACH TO DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE
Empowering vulnerable communities for a sustainable development
Afiadi focuses on activities that promote literacy rates among non school going children and school dropout through sensitization and capacity building programs on children, life skill training, child education sponsorship and other awareness programs. Safe protective family environment within which children should be developing no longer exist due to wars, poverty and diseases like HIV/AIDS scourge. Children can recover if given appropriate support to build on their natural resilience. Its unfortunate that up to today children in Uganda still study under tree shades especially in rural areas of Northern Uganda, Central, Eastern and Western region. And in some villages constructions of classroom blocks is not possible because they lack building materials which require money to be purchased. All these to mention but a few provide unfavorable conditions for a child to study in. Most schools in rural areas lack Textbooks, Teaching materials among other essential facilities (Maria Junior school picture).Afiadi will strive to improve the quality of education by equipping schools and educational centers; reforming the curriculum; ensuring the provision of teaching and learning materials; investing in teacher training and professional development; and providing cost-effective and efficient teacher supervision and support. In its quantitative and qualitative improvements of the education sector, Afiadi counts on development partnerships with religious organizations, the private sector, pattern ring NGOs, communities, and development partners.
